Thomas came to NDS as a staff attorney in 2001, and has been a supervising attorney since September of 2005. Thomas has collaborated extensively with New York University School of Law by serving as a guest lecturer, supervising the field placement of the Criminal Defense Clinic students, and teaching students at the High School Law Institute. In 2009, he also served as a coach at the New York State Defender's Association Basic Trial Skills Program, a week-long intensive trial advocacy training for New York State criminal defense attorneys. Thomas is a frequent presenter of Know Your Rights seminars hosted by community groups, schools and churches. He has been a guest on Al Sharpton's radio show, Hour of Power, discussing police/community relations. He also addresses youth through criminal procedure workshops and street law presentations at high schools in Harlem and other communities. As a law student, Thomas also taught high school students in the D.C. Street Law Clinic. Thomas graduated from Morehouse College in 1994, and received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center in 1998. |
