Programs » Immigration Services Project

The Immigration Services Project provides support and legal representation to NDS clients who are non-citizens, and to immigrant communities throughout Harlem and Washington Heights. NDS began this project because for a significant percentage of our clients, a prior criminal conviction or an ongoing criminal case results in a serious risk of immigration detention and/or deportation.

The Immigration Services Project allows NDS attorneys and their non-citizen clients to consult with an in-house immigration law attorney in order to minimize the immigration consequences of dispositions. Additionally, NDS's immigration attorney can represent those in need of deportation defense in immigration court removal proceedings.

Representation and assistance are also available to clients seeking to apply to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for benefits such as adjustment of status, citizenship, asylum, or self-petitions pursuant to the Violence Against Women Act. If you are in need of assistance or have questions about our services, please contact Heidi Altman at (212) 876-5500 extension 126.
